Another busy weekend. It was Founders' Day weekend in Lee so there was all sorts of stuff going on.
The best part of it was that on Saturday morning I got to see my bud Ronald one last time. More about that in a bit.
Friday night we went to Taste of Lee - lots of food but nothing for me. Is that fair? So many people and dogs. And food - did I mention food? I didn't do so great on our first walk up the street so we had to walk up and down the street over and over and over and I finally got it. Good job, Raisin!
Walking back to our car I saw these kids in a cage - I wonder what they did wrong!
So - on Saturday there was a parade in Lee. I went last year with my BFF Harvey when I was a baby. Wasn't I the cutest puppy ever? And Harvey is SO handsome.
This year we went to McDonalds first because Ronald was going to be there before he marched in the parade. I waited very patiently - and while I waited some people stopped by to ask about raising puppies so I was on my best behavior.
Ronald remembered me from when I was a baby. When he found out I have only 3 more weeks before I go to college and that this is the last time I'll see him, he said "good luck, Raisin".
These were my first two times meeting Ronald when I was a baby still.
My friend Marcia who was driving Ronald to the start of the parade invited me and my mom to walk in the parade with Ronald. How many GEB puppies do you know who have walked in a parade with Ronald McDonald? Not many, I bet!
My mom didn't think I would be able to do it but we decided to try and drop out if it became too much for me. Wouldn't you think by now she would have more faith in me?
We were #9 in the parade and there was a band right behind us. One of the boys in the band came to say hello and asked my name - when my mom told him Raisin he said that's a shriveled up grape. Was that an insult do you think?
We're ready to go
And we're off
It was very hard to keep up with Ronald because he kept zigzagging to greet all the little kids and the seniors watching the parade - and there were a lot of them who wanted to see him. I did great, though. After a little while Ronald asked how I was doing and said "good job, Raisin!". There were at least a million people watching the parade when we got downtown. Some of my friends were there so sometimes I would hear "Hi Raisin". But there were so many people I usually couldn't tell who was calling to me.
We walked almost the whole parade but then sat on the curb so we could watch the rest of it. I was very, very tired and needed a nap. There were fire trucks, more bands, girls doing gymnastics, floats, boy scouts and the Shriners with their funny cars but I missed a lot of it because I was asleep!
Just. Can't. Keep. My. Eyes. Open.
This was the bagpipe band I heard in Lenox this summer
These were really neat little cars from the Shriners. They turned in circles right in front of me!
We had many errands to run after the parade but I pretended I was dead so I got to stay in the car and sleep. I was much too tired to go in any stores. It was a really fun day, though.
